Alcides Costa Vaz é Doutor em Sociologia (USP, 2001) e Professor Titular do Instituto de Relações Internacionais da Universidade de Brasília (IREL-UnB). É também atualmente Presidente da Associação Brasileira de Estudos de Defesa (ABED) e pesquisador senior do Centro de Estudos Estratégicos do Exército Brasileiro (CEEEX).
