Beyond the point: discriminatory practices in selective policies towards skilled migrants in Canada and the United Kingdom
Resumo:
This thesis aims to investigate the gender disparity in the outcomes of selective skilled migration policies in Canada and the United Kingdom between 2007 and 2017. The study will focus on identifying indirect discriminatory practices embedded within policy criteria, examining their intersection with gender, race, and class. This period was marked by the financial crisis and the increasing neoberalisation of immigration policies. I employ a qualitative content analysis of the policy criteria in a historical, economic, social and political context to uncover these practices and their impact on gendered outcomes.
