Winter School do EUROSUD Master

SUMMARY

The Dissertation Winter School was specifically designed to offer students an opportunity to gain a better understanding of research methods and techniques which may be of use in their dissertation projects of the ERASMUS MUNDUS International Master in South European Studies (EUROSUD).

The school is structured as follows. On Monday, the morning will be dedicated to a brief opening session. In the afternoon, Marina Costa Lobo, from the Instituto de Ciências Sociais, Universidade de Lisboa, will deliver the opening lecture on “Voting in Southern Europe in the shadow of the Great Recession”.

From Tuesday to Friday, during mornings, students will join the lectures with experienced researchers on a specific methodology. Three sessions will take place at the same time and students are expected to attend the lecture to which they were previously assigned.

From Tuesday to Thursday, the afternoons are dedicated to the presentation and discussion of students’ dissertation projects in the format of a standard academic conference. Students' presentations are organised in two parallel sessions per afternoon, according to the research topic. Students will receive feedback on their projects from two teachers and three students specifically appointed.

Finally, on Friday afternoon, a roundtable with experienced practitioners will discuss the “Challenges of the Migration crisis to Southern Europe”.
