Peter A. Hall from Harvard University will be visiting ICS March the 29th to participate in the Conference Varieties of Capitalism and the Construction of the Political Economy that will be held at ICS Sala Polivalente at 10 am.

Abstract: From an economic and political perspective, what are the most important and durable differences in the political economies of the developed world?  How might we understand the process whereby political economies are constructed over time? This lecture will outline a ‘varieties of capitalism' approach to comparative capitalism and identify some of the issues it opens up.  It will then examine the more general problem of how to understand the process whereby the institutional structures of the political economy, whether liberal, coordinated, corporatist and the like, are put in place over time. The object of the lecture is to open up multiple perspectives on the analysis of the evolution of the political economy and to identify issues worthy of more investigation.
