Christopher Thornhill is a Professor of Law at the University of Manchester. His research focuses both on the relations between legal and political theory and legal and political sociology and on processes of state formation and constitution writing in different European societies. He published recently, A Sociology of Constitutions, Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 2011, and co-edited Law and the Formation of Modern Europe, Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 2014
