Laia Balcells (Duke University)

Laia Balcells is Assistant Professor of Political Science at Duke University. Balcells teaches and does research on topics of political violence, nationalism and ethnic conflict, and fiscal federalism. She has recently published articles in the American Political Science Review, Journal of Conflict Resolution, International Studies Quarterly, Comparative Political Studies, and Politics and Society. She is currently working on a book manuscript entitled "Rivalry and Revenge: the Politics of Violence in Civil War".
