Françoise Benhamou ( Université de Paris - Centre d'Economie de Paris Nord) comes to ISCTE - Auditório Afonso de Barros to talk about creative and cultural workers benefiting from different sources of earnings. Among them, property rights play a twofold role. On the one hand, they bring incentives and rewards for creators. But on the second hand, they limit the scope of diffusion. After a short theoretical approach, this seminar will present the main issues of a survey conducted in France on the importance and role of property rights in the cultural industries. It will provide evidence of the advantages and the limits of the system, especially for TV, cinema, books and music.
