No dia 17 de janeiro, Steven Forti (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) será o orador convidado do Seminário do Grupo de Investigação RIGoP. O tema desta sessão será "The History We Made Together" Vox and the Update of Reactionary Spanish Nationalism.

This seminar analyzes how Vox, the far-right party presided by Santiago Abascal, has updated the Spanish reactionary nationalist canon. First, attention will be paid to Vox's ideology, highlighting the continuities with a tradition that has its foundations in the nineteenth century with Marcelino Menéndez Pelayo and that has Ramiro de Maeztu and Franco's national-Catholicism as its continuators in the twentieth century. Second, attention will be paid to Vox's use and abuse of history, marked mainly by nostalgia for the Empire and the Reconquista and by the silence on the contemporary period, considered an era of decadence.
