Governance of Social Innovation
No dia 25 de outubro, Diego Galego (Rutgers University-Newark) será o orador convidado do Seminário do Grupo de Investigação RIGoP. O tema para esta sessão será Governance of Social Innovation.
Research on governance and social innovation has recently accelerated. By asking the question, what is governance of social innovation, we take stock of the current literature on this topic to develop a conceptual framework that combines a) the origin of innovative initiatives, identification of societal problems, b) the process of actions, individual and collective actions emerging to tackle societal problems, and c) results, specific strategies developed beyond the formal government structures. Social innovation is a process of multiple-actor interactions to meet citizens' basic needs. Governance, in turn, is a new way of governing by including excluded citizens in policy-making. Therefore, governance of social innovation denotes multi-actor structures and processes that are inclusive and promote social and political transformations through collective actions, co-production, and participation in policy-making. Finally, a case of social innovation initiatives emerging in Brazil to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic in the favelas was presented to illustrate the conceptual framework's empirical applicability.
