Palestra by Dr Mark Harris
Mark Harris is a reader in social anthropology at the University of St Andrews. He has conducted field research in the Brazilian Amazon and investigated the extensive archival holdings on the region in Europe and Brazil. His research interests encompass historical anthropology and ethnohistory, peasantries and the state, the anthropology of experience, learning and skill. His book, Rebellion on the Amazon(Cambridge 2010) won an honourable mention for the Warren Dean Prize for most significant work of Brazilian history in 2011. His writings include Life on the Amazon (Oxford 2000) and the edited volumes Ways of Knowing (2007 Berghahn), and Reflections on Imagination (Ashgate 2015).
