The ICS-ULisboa Conference 2025 will take place on July 7, starting at 9:30 AM, in the Sedas Nunes Auditorium at the Institute of Social Sciences, University of Lisbon. This year, the conference is organized as part of the ERA Chair (European Research Agency) for the Study of Imagination and Society. The theme will be Spaces of Imagination. The event will be live on youtube.

On June 20, the publisher Imprensa de Ciências Sociais will be launching the book Colonizar a Metrópole. Estado, Ciência e Técnicas de Colonização Interna durante o Estado Novo, by Elisa Lopes da Silva. The book will be presented by Fernando Rosas and Cláudia Castelo. The event will be held at the Praça Laranja at the Feira do Livro de Lisboa, starting at 6 pm.

No dia 17 de junho a Imprensa de Ciências Sociais organiza o lançamento do livro 50 anos de Abril. Questões Ambientais, Sociais e Territoriais, da autoria de Mónica Truninger, João Morais Mourato, Roberto Falanga, Luísa Schmidt e Rosario Oliveira.A obra será apresentada por Viriato Soromenho Marques, Sofia Bento e Mário Vale. Na Praça Roxa da Feira do Livro de Lisboa a partir das 18h.

On June 26, Victor Sokari, PhD candidate in Comparative Politics at ICS-ULisboa, will be the speaker for the SPARC Research Group Seminar on Constituency Service in a Multi-level Democracy: Comparing Patterns and Orientations in National and Subnational Legislatures in Nigeria. On june 20th, Kadir Çoban (ICS-ULisboa) will be the guest speaker of a Seminar organized by the Research Group RIGoP on the theme Dissemination of Participatory Budgets in Turkey. The seminar begins at 11h, online.

The event Enlightenments, Universalisms and Colonialisms will take place on June 24th, at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon. The event is organized by ICS-ULisboa researchers Isabel Corrêa da Silva and Angela Barreto Xavier.

The next session of the ICS Food Hub Reading Group – Food for Thought – will take place on June 9, starting at 11:30 AM. In this session, Oscar Lamora will present the text Deciphering a Non-meal: Pantawid-Gutom and the Everyday Negotiation of Hunger in the Philippines, by Gideon Lasco and Jhaki Mendoza. On June 5, Emerson do Bú (Iscte-IUL) will be the guest speaker at the SPARC Research Group Seminar. The theme will be From Social Dominance to Healthcare Disparities: The Role of the Great Replacement Theory and Racism. The seminar starts at 2:30 PM, in Room 2 at ICS-ULisboa and online.

On June 3rd, Izadora Acypreste (ICS-ULisboa) will be the guest speaker at a joint seminar of the LIFE, SHIFT, Diversidades Research Groups and the research project ABIDE. O Open Day 2025 terá lugar nos dias 28 e 29 de maio na Sala Maria de Sousa do ICS-ULisboa. O Open Day é um encontro organizado pelo Conselho Pedagógico do ICS, no qual os estudantes apresentam as suas investigações em curso, desde a fase de projeto até resultados preliminares ou mais consolidados.
