On September 26, researchers Andresa Ledo Marques, Olivia Bina, and Fiona Kinniburgh will host an interactive workshop as part of the Noite Europeia dos Investigadores 2025. The activity, which invites children and young people to explore issues related to biodiversity in urban contexts, will take place at the Jardim do Príncipe Real, starting at 5:00 p.m.

On September 29, at 10:00 a.m., the public defense of the doctoral dissertation of candidate Hugo Ferrinho Lopes will take place in the Sala de Atos of the Rectorate of the University of Lisbon.

The candidate will defend the thesis Ties that Bind, Ties that Break: Ideological disagreement and member behavior in parties and youth wings. The defense will also be streamed online via Microsoft Teams.

On October 2 and 3, ICS-ULisboa will host the Animal Day Conference of the HAS-Hub, titled Following the More-Than-Human: Multimodal Methods and Approaches.

ICS-ULisboa, together with its partners in the FoodLink Network, is promoting the 1^st FoodLink Conference Series – Seeds to Transform the Food System in Network, a set of three debates bringing together scientists, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to foster a more sustainable, healthy, and resilient region, in line with the Food Transition Strategy approved in 2025.

On September 25, Tiago Silva (ICS-ULisboa) will be the guest speaker on a seminar organized by the Research Group SPARC.

On September 29, the public defense for the PhD in Climate Change and Sustainable Development Policies by Ernesto Velazquez will take place in the Sala de Atos of the Rector’s Office of the University of Lisbon. The candidate will defend the thesis Self-Efficacy for Climate Action: Barriers and Opportunities for Small-Scale Farmers in Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.

On September 18, the public defense for the PhD in History: Continuity and Change in a Global World by Arlindo Souza will take place in the Sala de Atos of the Rector’s Office of the University of Lisbon. The candidate will defend the doctoral thesis Os "orientes" de Freyre e a Questão de Goa (1954-1961) sob o olhar lusotropical: um Lusotropicalismo Orientalista?

On September 23, the Museu de História Natural e da Ciência will host the opening of the exhibition Movements: Revolution, Circulation, Borders, organized by the ICS-ULisboa Migration Hub. The exhibition will be open to the public from September 23, 2025, to January 31, 2026.

On September 26, the ICS-ULisboa Migration Hub will organize the interactive game Circulating in the Museum and the World, as part of the European Researchers’ Night.

On September 18, Karla Cunha Pádua (Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais) will be the guest speaker in a seminar organized by the Research Group Diversidades. The theme will be Para além do escutar: A análise na pesquisa biográfico-narrativa.
