Applied Environmental Sustainability

The Master's in Applied Environmental Sustainability is a joint master's degree program offered by:

The general objectives of the master's degree are to provide knowledge and skills in the following areas:

  • Fundamentals of sustainability science, including its historical trajectory, main concepts, constraints, and driving systems, as well as the strategic significance of the water-food-nature nexus;
  • Understanding the phenomena, problems, and challenges of environmental unsustainability for the regulation and allocation of natural resources in complex and multidisciplinary systems;
  • Knowledge to design, innovate, optimize, and operationalize sustainability initiatives for public or private management of natural resources with territorial implications, with a special focus on the agriculture, food, forestry, and water sectors;
  • Use of methodologies and tools to define strategies and apply sustainability practices in policies, systems and processes within the nexus, at urban and rural scales, as well as at local and global scales.

The Master's degree in Applied Environmental Sustainability is awarded to students who have obtained 120 ECTS.

Requirements

The following may apply for admission to the study cycle:

  • Holders of a bachelor's degree or legal equivalent, namely in sciences, environmental engineering and related fields;
  • Holders of a foreign higher education degree awarded following a 1st cycle fo studies organised within the principles of the Bologna Process by a State who has adhered to this process;
  • Holders of a foreign higher education degree recognised as meeting the objectives of a bachelor's degree by the statutorily competent scientific body of the higher education institution to which they seek admission;
  • Holders of an academic, scientific, or professional curriculum vitae recognised by the course committee as attesting to the ability to complete this cycle of studies.
