Call for Expression of Interest - 11th October 2023

Creation of a scholarships for parties interested in collaborating in FCT R&D Unit/AL supporting activities

The Instituto de Ciências Sociais of the Universidade de Lisboa accepts expressions of interest for the creation of scholarships for parties interested in collaborating and supporting R&D activities developed under the FCT R&D Unit and Associate Laboratory in the following fields of management and science communication:

- Ref. MI/GC/01- support in report creation and financial and administrative management of R&D activities;

- Ref. MI/GC/02 - support in the organisation of scientific meetings and production and dissemination of audiovisual content;

- Ref. MI/GC/03 - support in communication, dissemination, and promotion of the research team's R&D activities.

Expressions of interest from bachelors and masters are accepted by sending the following elements to rh@ics.ulisboa.pt: letter of intent, CV, and certificate of qualifications, with “Manifestação de Interesse” and the reference of interest in the subject line.

Interested parties must submit their expressions of interest by 10th November 2023.

International call for recruitment of a researcher, initial level, on the basis of a fixed-term civil service employment contract - “Losers of Representation” project (financed by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, reference 2022.05057.PTDC), under the responsability of Doutor Jorge Fernandes

The Instituto de Ciências Sociais da Universidade de Lisboa – ICS-ULisboa –by order of its Director, dated 31/08/2023, made under the authority delegated to it by the Rector of the University of Lisbon (by Order 8246/2023, of 11 August, published in the Diário da República, 2nd series, issue 156 of 11 of August 2023), opens an international selection competition for the recruitment, on the basis of a fixed-term civil service employment contract, of a researcher in the scientific area of Political Science, specialising in Comparative Politics, to develop the activities in the project “Losers of Representation” (funding Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia; reference 2022.05057.PTDC), in accordance with the provisions of the Legal Framework Governing Academic Employment (RJEC) - Decree-Law 57/2016 of 29 August – as amended by Law 57/2017, of 19 July, also taking into account the provisions of Regulatory Decree 11-A/2017 of 29 December 2017 and the General Law on Civil Service Employment (LTFP - Law 35/2014 of 20 June).

    The Instituto de Ciências Sociais of the Universidade de Lisboa — ICS-ULisboa opens, by dispatch of the Director on 04/07/2023, given under the delegation of powers from the Rector of the Universidade de Lisboa, according to Order no. 8489/2022, 24th June (Diário da República, 2nd series, no. 132, 11th July 2022), an international call for the recruitment, under an employment contract in public functions for an indefinite period, of a researcher in the field of Sociology.

    Notice no. 19/2023 - Research Scholarship for doctoral student under project "ABIDE"

    How can we learn from animals to recover from catastrophic events resulting from climate change, in particular forest fires? How can we include non-human species as full participants in disaster knowledge and governance? The ABIDE project aims to explore innovative, frontier ways of responding to these questions. Funded by the European Research Council through a Consolidator Grant (http://abide.ics.ulisboa.pt/), between 2023 and 2028 we will explore multispecies approaches to disasters, in particular forest fires, in 3 countries: Australia, Brazil and Portugal. We are looking for highly motivated researchers, with an ability to work in a team, willing to cooperate and contribute to a collective, and with a particular interest in animals and their social lives. Openness to constant learning, and to theoretical, methodological and empirical challenges, are equally decisive, as you will work in a highly interdisciplinary team.

    Scientific Field: Social Sciences, subfields Sociology, Anthropology, Climate Change and other fields related to Multispecies Studies, human-animal relations and other fields related to the theme of the project.
