International Seminar on Environment and Society - Current Challenges and Pathways to Change.

The Environment and Society Section of the Portuguese Association of Sociology, in collaboration with the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon, and the PhD program in Climate Change and Sustainable Development Policies, organizes its first International Seminar on Environment and Society, under the motto: Current Challenges and Pathways to Change.

Keynote speakers are Alan Irwin, Luísa Schmidt, Matthias Gross and Noel Castree.

Ana Maria Nusdeo - Professora Associada do Departamento de Direito Econômico, Financeiro e Tributário da Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de São Paulo, encarregada da área de Direito Ambiental. Bacharel (1992), doutora (2000) e livre docente (2011) pela mesma Universidade. Pesquisadora do Instituto de Estudos Avançados (IEA-USP) no período de 2020 e Coordenadora do Grupo de Pesquisa "Direito Ambiental, Economia e Sustentabilidade – GPDAES”.

Sustainability transitions as experimental avenues: what role for exnovation and failure?

Matthias Gross is professor of Environmental Sociology at Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research in Leipzig and the Institute of Sociology, University of Jena, Germany.His recent research focusses on alternative energy systems, ignorance studies, automobility and culture, and real world experiments.He is a founding editor of the journal Nature + Culture and an editor of Restoration Ecology.
