COMENSAL consortium: the process for addressing dialogue between actors in the agri-food system in Asturias

No dia 4 de novembro, Sandra Sánchez Sánchez (University of Oviedo) será a oradora de um seminário conjunto dos Grupos de Investigação LIFE e SHIFT. Na Sala 1 do ICS-ULisboa e online.

The Sociology of Food Research Group led a participatory action research pilot project between 2022 and 2023 to connect all actors in the food system of the Principality of Asturias (Spain). The aim of this conference was to present the methodological model of participation-action used in that project to reach consensus on the problems of the food system in the Principality of Asturias (Spain) based on dialogue between all the actors involved (production, industry, distribution, restaurant business, consumers, waste management, administration, and science).

The process emphasized shared responsibility and the need for multi-sector participation to transform the agri-food system. Social scientists acted as moderators to ensure inclusivity and equitable representation across all sectors. The project concluded with the creation of collaboration and a decalogue of proposals to address sustainability in the Principality of Asturias.

The decalogue can be found on this link.
