No dia 3 de junho, o workshop Figuring Rebellion and the Technical ends of Blackness terá lugar no Auditório Sedas Nunes do ICS-ULisboa e online, a partir das 18h. O evento é organizado pelo Urban Transitions Hub, no âmbito da Summer School Inhabiting the surrounds, e contará com os oradores Ana Rita Alves (Universidade Lusófona) e AbdouMaliq Simone.

On June 4th, ICS-ULisboa will host a seminar in the INSPIRE series, dedicated to the theme Art and the City?. Chiara Pussetti (ICS-ULisboa) and Ricardo Campos (NOVA-FCSH) will be the invited speakers. Starting at 11:00 am, in Room 2 at ICS-ULisboa. The Art and the City? seminar is part of the INSPIRE project’s ongoing seminar series. It takes as its starting point a collective question: Can art give form to the ‘margins’ of the city?

On 6 June, Bernard Harris (University of Strathclyde) will be the guest speaker at the Postgraduate Seminar in History. From 2:30 pm, in Room 1 of ICS-ULisboa and online.

On June 24, the team of the research project Democratic Innovations in Portugal, led by ICS-ULisboa researcher Roberto Falanga, will present the preliminary results of the project at Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. The session will start at  2:30 pm, in Room 3, at the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. The presentation will be followed by a debate with experts and a Q&A session. Registration is required.

On June 4th, the public defense of Xinyan Cai’s Master's dissertation in Brazilian Studies, titled Trabalho Escravo no Brasil: As ocupações profissionais dos escravos no século XIX, will take place at ICS-ULisboa. The session begins at 12:00 PM, in Room 3 and online.

On May 27th, the MEMHIS Research Group is organizing a seminar on El ideal de paternidad burgués: actitudes, discursos y prácticas en la España del siglo XIX (1830-1890). On May 27th, the public defense of Gustavo Gouvêa Maciel's PhD in Comparative Politics will take place at ICS-ULisboa. The candidate will defend the dissertation Tolerance towards Corruption in Democracy: Measurement, Mass-Elite (In)Congruence, and Causality.
