On October 23, the Diversities Research Group will host a seminar on Domesticated Forests, Wild Controversies: An Incursion into the Debate on the Domestication of the Amazon. Guilherme Henriques Soares, from the Federal University of Amazonas and a member of the EDGES Project team, will be the guest speaker. The event will take place at 11:00 a.m.

On October 2, Mayleen Schack (Leuphana University) will be the speaker at the SPARC Research Group Seminar on the topic Between Legacies and Justice: The Role of Lusotropicalism in Shaping Support for Reparations through Historical Blame and In-Group Glorification. The event will take place at 2:30 p.m. in Room 1 at ICS-ULisboa and online (Microsoft Teams).

The coloquium Acesso a uma Alimentação Adequada em Portugal: Desafios e Soluções [Access to Adequate Food in Portugal: Challenges and Solutions] will take place at the Auditorium of the Institute of Social Security in Lisbon on October 16. The event will provide the context for an exploration of how recent crises have reshaped eating habits in Portugal, based on the findings of the research project FoodHabCrisis, coordinated at ICS-ULisboa by researcher Vasco Ramos. 

The workshop Unruly Matters: Experimenting with Speculative Multimodal Methods will take place on October 3 at ICS-ULisboa, as part of the Animal Day Conference organized by the HAS-Hub

On October 7, the LIFE Research Group will hold a seminar in collaboration with the Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology at Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon, on Authoritarian Anti-Semitism. The guest speaker will be Peter Ullrich (Universität Berlin). The event will take place online, starting at 11:00 a.m.

On September 25, ICS-ULisboa will host the launch of the book O "Reconhecimento" do Governo Angolano pelo Estado Português, authored by Domingos Cúnua Alberto, PhD candidate in History at ICS-ULisboa. The event will take place in the Sedas Nunes Auditorium, starting at 5:00 p.m.

On September 26, researcher Antje Disterheft will host an interactive space for creative minds as part of the 2025 European Researchers’ Night. Designed for participants of all ages, the activity will begin at 5:00 p.m. at Princípe Real in Lisbon.

On September 26, researcher Roberto Falanga will lead a Legislative Theatre workshop as part of the Noite Europeia dos Investigadores 2025. The workshop is open to participants of all ages and is organized in partnership with the projects INSPIRE, INCITE-DEM, and IDP. It will take place at the Jardim do Príncipe Real in Lisbon, starting at 9:00 p.m. Registration is required.

On September 26, researchers Andresa Ledo Marques, Olivia Bina, and Fiona Kinniburgh will host an interactive workshop as part of the Noite Europeia dos Investigadores 2025. The activity, which invites children and young people to explore issues related to biodiversity in urban contexts, will take place at the Jardim do Príncipe Real, starting at 5:00 p.m.

On September 29, at 10:00 a.m., the public defense of the doctoral dissertation of candidate Hugo Ferrinho Lopes will take place in the Sala de Atos of the Rectorate of the University of Lisbon.

The candidate will defend the thesis Ties that Bind, Ties that Break: Ideological disagreement and member behavior in parties and youth wings. The defense will also be streamed online via Microsoft Teams.
