Names and Colours: person and complexity of identity in Bahia

Names and Colours: person and complexity of identity in Bahia

This project studies the processes of personal identity by focusing on the implications that distinct fields of socicultural differentiation have in the process of constitution of the person, namely in three main aspects: (i) the person's emotional constitution; (ii) the person's moral and ethical constitution; and (iii) the reconfiguration in time of personal identity. The principal object of study will be the processes of anthroponymy and their impact in the social integration of the person in terms of gender, class and ethnicity. The project focuses both on forms of identity recognition (through names, titles, nicknames, etc.) and forms of appellation (calling, modes of treatment, etc.).

Objectivos:
The project has three types of objectives: (a) to launch again the debate concerning the category of the person in a less sociocentric perspective; (b) to intervene in the debate concerning the relation between an internal alterity and an external modernity that constitutes Brazil as a dilemmatic nation; (c) to understand the process of long term integration that work within the universe of Lusotopy through a comparative study of the processes of Lusofone anthroponymy.
State of the art:
