Collaborative project between GIMM and ICS with the aim of promoting citizen science and the integration of social sciences in biomedical research to better address the social, legal and ethical implications of biomedical research and health innovations. The project will be developed in partnership between GIMM and ICS in the following areas:
i. Involvement of citizens and patients:
a) Initiation of citizen science projects related to the iMM-CARE research areas;
b) Design of the citizen science area of the CARE Open Science Hub;
c) Strategic counselling to increase the participation of citizens and patients in Research and Innovation (‘R&I’) activities;
d) Co-organising involvement workshops.
ii. Innovation Challenges - Open Competitions:
a) Support in designing open competitions;
b) Evaluating proposals submitted to iMM-CARE for ‘Social Sciences and Humanities’ and ‘Citizen Science’ project awards;
iii. Preparation of White Papers, Position Papers and Policy Briefs to promote reforms and investment in R&I, with a view to improving clinical and translational research in Portugal and the European Union;
iv. Impact assessment of the main results of the iMM-CARE project.
