António Costa Pinto
António Costa Pinto is a Research Professor at Lisbon University's Social Science Institute and Professor of Modern European History and Politics at ISCTE, Lisbon.
He holds a Ph.D. from the European University Institute, Florence (1992). He has been a Visiting Professor at Stanford University (1993) Georgetown (2004), the University of São Paulo (2013) and King's College-London (2014) and a Senior Visiting Fellow at Princeton University (1996) and at the University of California, Berkeley (2000 and 2010).
From 1999 to 2003 he has been a Visiting Professor at the Institut D'Études Politiques, Paris. He was President of the Portuguese Political Science Association (2008-2012).
His research interests include fascism and authoritarianism, democratization and transitional justice, political elites, the European Union and the comparative study of political change in Europe. He is a regular contributor to the mainstream media.
