Education and formation of elites from secondary to tertiary education: social closure and international opening-up
The overall objective of the project « The education and training of elites from secondary to higher education: social closure and international engagement » (EDUC-ELITES) is to examine transformations in the school careers and experiences of pupils and students in elite institutions. It will focus on the analysis of closure and exclusionary institutional and individual strategies on one side and on engagement and usurpatory strategies for improvement of social position on the other.
The project will focus on three main themes:
-An examination of developments in policies on the training and selection of elites in France and the effect of these in comparison with other OCDE countries
-An analysis of strategies to ensure social closure on the part of secondary and higher institutions of education and their users;
-A study of modes of international engagement and their importance in the educational qualifications of future elites.

Objectivos:
The main aims of the project are:
- A better understanding of the relative importance of national policies, educational institutions and users (parents and students) in the production of educational and social elites, their modes of influence and their interaction;
- The effects of present modes of elite production on competition between social groups and educational inequalities.
State of the art:
