INSPIRE Seminars: Arte e Cidade

On June 4th, ICS-ULisboa will host a seminar in the INSPIRE series, dedicated to the theme Art and the City?. Chiara Pussetti (ICS-ULisboa) and Ricardo Campos (NOVA-FCSH) will be the invited speakers. Starting at 11:00 am, in Room 2 at ICS-ULisboa. The Art and the City? seminar is part of the INSPIRE project’s ongoing seminar series. It takes as its starting point a collective question: Can art give form to the ‘margins’ of the city?

Vamos Falar de Controlo de Rendas?

On May 12, the debate Shall We Talk About Rent Control?, organized by Rede H – National Housing Studies Network, will take place at ICS-ULisboa. The debate aims to foster a broad public discussion on the public policies needed in the field of housing. Moderated by Sofia Branco (Lusa), it will offer different perspectives on rent control and the conditions for its success.

The event starts at 5:30 p.m., at the Maria de Sousa Room, ICS-ULisboa.

Machines in tea gardens: Legacies of labour in the colonial South Indian tea plantations

On May 7, ICS-ULisboa will host the seminar Machines in Tea Gardens: Legacies of Labour in the Colonial South Indian Tea Plantations, jointly organized by the Research Groups Diversities and Empires and the History of Science, Technology and Environment Group from IHC-NOVA FCSH. John Bosco Lourdusamy, from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, will be the guest speaker. The event starts at 11 a.m., in the Sedas Nunes Auditorium.

On April 23, there will be another session of the Animal Wonder Reading Group. The text for this session will be A silent spring, or a new cacophony? Invasive plants as maestros of modern soundscapes by Jacob N. Barney, Grace O’Malley, Gabrielle N. Ripa, Joseph Drake, David Franusich, and Meryl C. Mims. The session will be led by Kuai Shen, researcher at ICS-ULisboa and the ABIDE project.
