On April 23, there will be another session of the Animal Wonder Reading Group. The text for this session will be A silent spring, or a new cacophony? Invasive plants as maestros of modern soundscapes by Jacob N. Barney, Grace O’Malley, Gabrielle N. Ripa, Joseph Drake, David Franusich, and Meryl C. Mims. The session will be led by Kuai Shen, researcher at ICS-ULisboa and the ABIDE project.

The international and inter-university colloquium Tecnofanias: International and Interuniversity Colloquium on the Philosophy of Technology will take place on May 23, 2025, at the Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal, in Lisbon. This event brings together researchers from various national and international institutions to critically reflect, through philosophy and the social sciences, on the complex relationships between technology, culture, and society.

On May 9, Filipe Teles (University of Aveiro) will be the guest speaker at the Postgraduate Seminar in Political Science. No dia 10 de abril, terá lugar no ICS-ULisboa a prova pública de defesa de Doutoramento em Alterações Climáticas e Políticas de Desenvolvimento Sustentável da candidata Kaya Schwemmlein. A defesa da tese On Farmers, Agrifood Systems and Food Sovereignty in the Alentejo Litoral region: a Peasant-based Nexus Approach to Agrarian Transitions acontece a partir das 10h, no Auditório Sedas Nunes e online.

On April 22, ICS-ULisboa will host the launch of the book Jovens e Educação Sexual em Portugal. Contextos, Saberes e Práticas, published by Imprensa de Ciências Sociais. The event will take place in the Auditório Sedas Nunes at 4:00 PM and will be livestreamed (ID 987 4727 1670).

On April 10, Vukašin Gligorić (NYU Abu Dhabi) will be the guest speaker at another SPARC Research Group Seminar. This theme for this session will be Calls to Decolonize Social Psychology: Macroeconomic Conditions and National Stereotypes in 45 non-Western Countries. The round table Das Margens para o Centro: Desigualdades e as crises da (re)produção da vida quotidiana, organized by ICS-ULisboa researcher Vasco Ramos and PhD student in Sociology Francielli Dalprá will take place at IGOT-ULisboa, on June 25.
