The international and inter-university colloquium Tecnofanias: International and Interuniversity Colloquium on the Philosophy of Technology will take place on May 23, 2025, at the Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal, in Lisbon. This event brings together researchers from various national and international institutions to critically reflect, through philosophy and the social sciences, on the complex relationships between technology, culture, and society. Organized by the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon, the Institute of Philosophy of the University of Porto, and Praxis – Centre for Philosophy, Politics and Culture at the University of Évora, the colloquium provides a space for interdisciplinary discussion on the dilemmas and contemporary technological transformations.

Key topics include critiques of technoscience, the platformization of the public sphere, the TAC thesis of the Compiègne School, and the interactions between technology, memory, science, and society, drawing on thinkers such as Vilém Flusser, Hermínio Martins, Jacques Derrida, Edmund Husserl, Bernard Stiegler, and John Ziman. The keynote lecture will be delivered by Jean-Pierre Dupuy, French philosopher at the École Polytechnique in Paris and Stanford University, in a day shaped by debate around the technologies implicated in shaping both the present and the future.
