TRANSITS - material culture, migration and everyday life
TRANSITS aims to study contemporary movements of people across three continents. The project will investigate how and to what extent material culture and consumption practices are implicated in the expectations, imaginaries and experiences of presentday movements of people to and from four major cities: Berlin, Lisbon, Luanda and Sydney; and It will use a mixed methods design comprising extensive (quantitative and qualitative) research and ethnography. The elected research fields allow great diversity in terms of context (e.g. geographical, economical, political, social, cultural), past/present bilateral links and migratory patterns between Portugal and Angola, Australia and Germany.
