Dr Burke is an historian of food, gender, and environment in early modern European empires, specialising in the interconnected worlds of the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Her research sits at the intersection of global history, environmental history, food studies, gender history, and subaltern approaches to analyse how knowledge, ecological practices, and social relations were produced through mobility and colonial encounter.
