Confiança e sacrifício: Como é que as famílias portuguesas estão a lidar com a crise económica?

Neste seminário, Cláudia Abreu Lopes apresentará uma investigação que articula aspectos psicossociais com aspectos económicos para compreender as estratégias que as pessoas utilizam para lidar com a crise. O estudo evidencia o papel da confiança dos consumidores, da percepção do impacto das decisões na economia e as consequências destas nas estratégias mais activas de colaboração na reestruturação económica.

Inflated Expectations: The Political Economy of Social Spending in Latin America

Nota biográfica: David's PhD (DCU), which focused on the relationship between political institutions and partisanship in Latin America, was completed in 2009. David's current work is concerned with explaining the resurgence of left wing politics in Latin America, the impact these parties and politicians have on policy and the variables that shape these governments once in power. His general research interests include Latin American politics, partisan politics, political economy, political institutions, globalization and the Southern Cone.

Rethinking Dimensions of Democracy and their Measurement

Robert M. Fishman, Professor of Sociology and Fellow of the Kellogg Institute at the University of Notre Dame and visiting professor of political science at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra is a comparativist who works on democracy and democratic practice, politics and culture, and consequences of inequality.  Prior to moving to the University of Notre Dame, Fishman was Associate Professor of Government and of Social Studies at Harvard University and has also been a visiting professor at the Center for Advanced Study in the Social Sciences of the Juan March Institute (Madrid).
