The Interviews of Salazar 1928-1969
This project aims at collecting the still untranslated and/or uncollected interviews of Salazar with Portuguese and foreign journalists given during his permanence in power, firstly as Finance Minister (1928-1932), then as Prime Minister (1932-1968), including his last one in 1969, shortly before his death. The aim is to publish a Portuguese language edition of the complete collected interviews of Salazar, or, as an alternative first step, a collection of scattered interviews never before published in book form, including some never translated before, with an introductory essay. The speeches from Salazar and some official statements ("notas oficiosas") issued by his government were collected and published during his long stay in power, but only 14 collected interviews from 1960-1966, all of them with foreign journalists, were published (1967). Before this project was submitted, I managed to obtain the text of several French language interviews virtually unknown to historians and to the public.
