Max Rúben Tavares de Pina Ramos
Max Ruben Ramos is graduated in Anthropology by the University of Coimbra. He obtained a Master in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the Institute of Social Sciences, University of Lisbon and a PhD in Anthropology from the same institution, with the thesis: Missionaries of the South: evangelization, globalization and mobilities of Cape Verdian pastors from the Church of the He worked on the role of performances, musical practices and expressive culture in the affirmation of identities, conceptions of belonging, citizenship, as well as in the situation of exclusion and racial and social discriminations experienced by Cape Verdian migrants and their descendants in the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon. In the last years, besides working with anthropology of religion, mobilities and the Protestant missionary globalization, he has been working and collaborating with research investigations related to the anthropology of Christianism and to anthropology of death, more concretely about the conception and management of death by Cape Verdean migrants in Portugal.
