Maria do Mar Gago
Historian of science and technology interested in the global history of agricultural crops. She is postdoctoral research fellow of the Institute of Social Sciences since May 2019, within the project ReSEED – Rescuing Seed’s Heritage, funded by the European Research Council and led by Dulce Freire. Graduated in Biology and Master in History and Philosophy of Sciences, she has concluded her PhD in History in January 2018 with the dissertation Robusta Empire: Coffee, Scientists and the Making of Colonial Angola (1898-1961). She has been mainly interested in working at the intersection of the history of science and technology, environmental history, agricultural history, colonial history and history of international relations. She is associated editor of HoST – Journal of History of Science and Technology since 2018.
