Ambra Formenti
Ambra Formenti graduated in Philosophy, socio-anthropological specialization, at the University of Turin (Italy), with a dissertation on Catholic Church and Theology of inculturation in Tanzania. She obtained her PhD from the ICS in 2014, in Anthropology of Religion. Her doctoral research explores the role of religion in the processes of identity construction among migrant groups, focusing on the case of Guinean Evangelical Christianity in Greater Lisbon. She worked in Italy and Portugal on Evangelical and Pentecostal Christianity, mobility and African diaspora in Europe. She is currently post-doctoral researcher in CRIA/FCSH-UNL, where she develops a project that explores the recent changes in migration patterns from Portugal to the UK, including the remigration of Guinean citizens and new roads of Portuguese emigration. Her interests include migration, Guinea-Bissau, Guinean diaspora, religion, Christianity and urban space.
