Abstract:

This session offers practical guidance for candidates preparing applications to the FCT PhD 2026 call, with a focus on the habits, decisions, and common mistakes that shape proposal quality and competitiveness. The presentation highlights the main do’s and don’ts of a strong application, including how to frame a clear and feasible research plan, demonstrate originality and societal relevance, match the project to the right institutional setting, along with avoid frequent weaknesses. This session is designed to help prospective applicants approach the process strategically, improve the clarity and coherence of their proposals, and submit stronger, more competitive applications within the FCT framework. PhD scholarship holders are also welcome to come and share their personal journeys and collaborate with others going through the same journey.
