Meeting Programme
Theme: The European integration process has generated new forms of governance that require new conceptual and theoretical frameworks in order to understand changes in the politics and administration of European policy-making. The academic debate in European Studies is currently dominated by models of multilevel governance. This prevailing paradigm is marked, however, by a relative neglect of the historical and cultural dimensions of the European integration process - an issue that needs to be critically considered when aiming to understand changes in citizenship, political accountability, and administrative structures at the level of European institutions as well as across states. This research meeting aims to provide a state-of-the-art of European Studies, based on a combination of insights from political science, history, sociology, legal studies and public administration.
