Diversity Policies as Stereotype Threat Triggers

Previous research has suggested that the framing of diversity policies or mandates influences how decision-makers evaluate highly qualified minority and female candidates. Specifically, in two studies that utilized an undergraduate population and a field sample of human resource professionals, legalistically worded diversity messages that stressed the legal consequences of discrimination and value diversity messages that stressed the enrichment of work and social groups through its diverse members, both resulted in positive initial evaluations of minority and female targets.

Systems and metasystems in social representations :revisiting basic concepts of Moscovici's theory

For understanding systems of reasoning and arguing about psychoanalysis in interviews and French newspaper articles, Moscovici (1961, 1976, 2008) proposed the model of systems and metasystems. In the first part of the seminar, this model will be presented and a tentative explanation will be offered for the disappearance of the model in the scientific literature.

Abstract. In Portugal, like in the rest of the Southern European countries that were part of the so-called third wave of democratization of the 1970s (Greece and Spain), the Euro was seen as a symbol of modernization, economic growth and stability. Its introduction was considered the culmination of a successful process of European integration accomplished in a very short period and against all odds. The ugly ducks were, at last, recognized by their capacity of adjustment.
