This research focuses on the transformations produced by Portuguese emigration during the sixties of the twentieth century in the parish of France, in the north of Bragança. The question is what remains, the transformation of the society of origin, and the significant, lasting and self-reproductive changes of emigration between 1957 and 1974. The factors that constrain and determine migratory trajectories, as well as agency of emigrants in the face of these constraints. It will be sought through a critical reading of research on flows between different countries to compare Portuguese emigration with migrations carried out at the same time in the European migratory system and in other migratory systems.
