This PhD project resulted in articles, communications in scientific events and the thesis "Espíritos Atlânticos: Um Espiritismo Luso-Brasileiro em Cabo Verde". The adaptation of the thesis into a book will be the final outcome of the project.

Objectivos:
The innovation of this project within the field of social studies about Cape Verde revolves around three main aspects: 1) the decision to conduct the study on São Vicente, an island that has not been studied much in comparison with other islands of the archipelago; 2) the focus of the research around a social movement with great implantation in the Barlavento (windward) islands and present in all areas of expansion of the Cape Verdean diaspora, which has until today not been studied; 3) and the disciplinary and methodological insertion within social and cultural anthropology, a scientific area with few studies conducted on Cape-Verde. The research project will partially focus on the period when Cape Verde was a Portuguese colony. Hence, the research will contribute towards the increase in knowledge about the Portuguese colonial dominion in Cape Verde. Lastly, we intend to participate in a scientific exchange between Cape Verde and Portugal, based on public presentations of the research results in both countries.
