"The role of behavior and achievement on the school paths of Black students"
Mafalda Mascarenhas will present her wip from here doctoral thesis (no paper yet):
Title: The role of behavior and achievement on the school paths of Black students
Description:
Black students are twice more likely than white students to be in the professional education path, in Portugal (Roldão, 2015). Several reasons might account for these discrepancies. This PhD project aims to study if they might be due to biased perceptions and attributions regarding misbehavior and indiscipline. In this presentation, I will give a general overview of my PhD project and my progress within it. I will present and discuss the results from the first study, testing if teachers attribute more severe sanctions to black students.
It will be as usual a hybrid session, on Thursday, 17th March, from 16:00-18:00.
