RESEARCH ADVANCED STUDIES OUTREACH ACTIVITIES MISSION The ICS is a university institution devoted to research and advanced higher education in the social sciences. Its mission is to study the processes of change in modern societies, with special emphasis on Portugal and those societies and cultures with which Portugal has historic ties,in both Europe and globally. This mission is accomplished through: innovative research on contemporary societies, their legacies and challenges; namely PhD programmes, directly tied in with research; engaging with society and knowledge transfer.
