SUBJECT AREAS INTERNATIONAL OUTLOOK THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL DIVERSITY SOCIAL AND PUBLIC RELEVANCE Researchers at the ICS work in a number of different fields – Social and Cultural Anthropology, Political Science, Economics, Human Geography, History, Social Psychology and Sociology – organized into 7 Research Groups, which also collaborate in advanced studies and outreach activities. The ICS encourages high-quality research and practices rigorous assessment procedures, which have enabled it to achieve a top position among Portuguese research institutions, as well as increasing international projection and recognition. The ICS adopts and promotes a scientific research culture which is characterised by theoretical and methodological diversity and by the interdisciplinary nature of its research agenda, seeking to enhance collaboration with other areas of knowledge. The ICS pays particular attention to the social and public relevance of the knowledge generated by its research.
