Sessão 3 – Governança ambiental 12h00-12h50 Jieling Liu Alterações Climáticas Governance of urban social-ecological systems: planning of the urban ecosystem as a lens on resilience in the context of climate change in megacity Guangzhou, China. Can urban planning cope with the resilience challenges of climate change to the urban ecosystems and humans in Guangzhou? If so, how? To answer this main research question, I study three major components: (1) urban planning, (2) climate change impacts, mitigation and adaptation, and (3) environmental governance in China. I set out from a systems complexity perspective to understand the current status of environmental sustainability, in cities, in the context of climate change. My research focuses on urban green, and the governance of urban green, as a lens to understand knowledge-action systems for urban health and resilience. The practical dimension of this project is complemented with a case study of Guangzhou, a megacity with rapid socio- economic activities and imminent environmental challenges including climate change impacts run with a unique Chinese governance system. Currently I am at the phase of shaping the project and conducting literature review. Durante décadas o tema das alterações climáticas e os processos de mitigação e adaptação ficaram restritos, de um lado à ciência, de outro aos governos, estes responsáveis por conduzirem as políticas públicas. Os cidadãos estiveram à margem desse processo. Entretanto, nota-se um movimento crescente de comunidades que juntas, integradas ou não em políticas governamentais, se mobilizam para se adaptarem ao futuro próximo de mudanças no clima. Até que ponto elas contribuem para esse fim? Nesse contexto, qual o papel da comunicação (lato sensu) nesse processo? O objetivo é estudar comunidades de regiões metropolitanas de duas (ou mais) capitais europeias, Lisboa e Londres em princípio. Md. Ashrafuzzaman Alterações Climáticas Climate change in mingling state: an exploration into the sea level rise impact on Bangladeshi coastal regions due to climatic shift adaptation trend and mitigating measures. This research project provides an outline of an assessment of sea level rise on Bangladeshi coast and what are the probable consequences of sea level rise on the coastal regions of Bangladesh by means of a longitudinal investigation. On the other hand, susceptibility in Bangladesh dealing with climatic shift propelled by sea level increase and approaches for adaptation and mitigation will be assessed by exploring conditions in a coastal locality which will be my focus, by adopting a qualitative and quantitative method. So, there are two major mechanisms under scrutiny – sea level rise and adaptation and mitigation. This research proposal has been formulated under two segments: (a) assessing sea level rise and its threatening impact on Bangladesh coastal regions, and (b) assessing susceptibility and focusing on adaptive and mitigating approaches by the localities under study. A thorough deductive approach has been prepared. I will scrutinize the identifiable areas of knowledge discrepancy, if any, which would follow literature review, evaluating presently undertaken line of actions on sea level change measurement and then reviewing observed patterns with regard to longitudinal exploration.
