3 Objectives Specialities Comparative Politics International Relations The PhD in Comparative Politics was created in 2010 and its main objective is to train political scientists of a high academic level, converging the research developed at the ICS with postgraduate teaching. ICS-ULisboa is the main Portuguese research institution in this area, so its resources and the skills of its researchers add value to the PhD. Attendance at the programme will guarantee: Learning advanced research methodologies; Exposure to cutting-edge research developed at ICS and internationally; Individualised mentoring and high-quality scientific guidance; Integration into an internationalised and interdisciplinary academic community that promotes mobility through network programmes; Access to extensive bibliographic resources and funding to develop research missions in Portugal and abroad. Students will receive training to prepare a doctoral thesis and develop an academic career. To this end, they will be exposed, through seminars and participation in international networks, to cutting-edge research in political science and related areas of social sciences. Throughout the course, students will be guided in their research and will present their work periodically, providing an opportunity to develop individual skills in writing and presenting results.
