OUTREACH . OBSERVATORIES The ICS' strategy for engagement with society and knowledge transfer includes five Observatories informing debate on key aspects of Portuguese society (ageing, family, youth, democracy, environment), and contributing to social innovation and improved policy-making and governance. By promoting partnerships with local and central administration bodies, companies and private non-profit institutions, the ICS Observatories produce policy-oriented technical and scientific knowledge for local and central government, and for stakeholders. The Observatories develop regular activities such as making databases available, performing policy analysis and recommendations, publishing research and policy briefs, organising events and training for diverse audiences, and promoting public consultations. Each Observatory has an extensive network of national and international, public and private partners. The five Observatories collaborate on a biennial publication on crosscutting social issues:the Portugal's Changing Society collection. 7 BOOKS POLICY & RESEARCH BRIEFS 2015 - 2019 3 BIENNAL SOCIAL REPORTS 35
