Globalization, Cultural Identities and Social Conflicts: Brazil and Portugal in a Comparative Perspective
The general proposition of this agreement is to invest in the areas of intersection between what is understood as related to "politics" and the city, also incorporating the topics of multicultural conflicts and expressions that refer to the phenomenon of globalization.
It involves analysing events, situations, rituals, social movements or processes that exist in the two societies that reveal similar or different historical dynamics. Those analyses will be performed through the articulation of three subprojects: a) State, Politics and Globalization, which brings together institutional practices and representations, including actors as spokespersons of ideologies; b) Heritage, Symbolic Appropriations and Cultural Values, which incorporates the multiple forms of conceiving and living the space and heritage; c) Conflicts, Identities and Contraventions, which approaches the conflicts and their more or less institutionalized forms of expression, registering typical occurrences of contemporary metropolis.
