Autonomy and Heteronomy in the Development of Ibero-American Sociology

Autonomy and Heteronomy in the Development of Ibero-American Sociology

This Project aims to contribute to advance the state of the art in a field that, in broad terms, we could define as the political ecology. Its innovative character concerns the fact that research in environmental studies was neglected by issues such as social justice and political citizenship, while being mainly dominated by techno-scientific disciplines with a very limited part of the social sciences. In general, the relative lack of attention to the ecological and environmental dimensions in the social sciences in Ibero-American world has been and continues to be the subject of academic debate. The current project intends to contribute to that debate by using the social processes related to managing environmental dilemmas as empirical basis of its reflection.
